Tooth Extraction: Reasons and Conditions

In today’s dental practices, advancements in scientific and technological fields have significantly contributed to the dentistry profession. The primary goal is to preserve and treat the tooth whenever possible. However, in some cases, tooth extraction is necessary to maintain overall health or to plan a proper treatment.

Reasons for Tooth Extraction:

  • Teeth with severe decay and loss of structure that cannot be treated or saved.
  • Teeth fractured due to trauma that cannot be repaired.
  • Abscessed teeth that cannot be saved even with root canal therapy.
  • Teeth that are loose due to severe gum disease (periodontitis).
  • Retained milk teeth that don’t fall out naturally.
  • Teeth causing problems due to extreme positional changes (twisting, tilting, etc.).
  • Teeth inside cysts or tumors.
  • Impacted teeth that have not erupted properly and are causing problems.
  • Teeth removed for orthodontic reasons, even if they are healthy, to alleviate crowding and support orthodontic treatment.
